2/12/20: Understanding Why and How We Critique
For this week in my visual design class, I was asked to do some additional reading. The reading given was written by Lauren Krause. What I got from this article is that critiquing each other’s work is the upmost importance. Seeing how others use the principles of design and receiving feedback on what we can improve is quite helpful. From what I understand, there are eight principles of design. Balance is about equality, contrast is created by opposites, direction has to do with planned attention, economy is about using less to convey big meaning, emphasis is key to direction, proportion has to do with ratios, rhythm is repetition, and unity is how a piece fits together as a whole design wise. By learning from our mistakes and having a good understanding of these concepts, we are able to make great strides in making our work look more professional and visually appealing.
